» ■—-o MONTHLY M KI'.TIXO. ' The monthly meeting of tin* ’executive of the Poverty Hay Provincial District of the Farmers/ Union was held this afternoon, there, being present Messrs. M. T. Trafford (president), F. S. Bowen. .J. Jv. Henson, \Y. It. L. Williams, - P. J. Roberts, W. 11. Shute. J. (’. Field, .!. Hutchinson, and Adams. It, was decided that the Union would not support the Daylight Havings Hill. Mr. K. S. Williams, M.P., writing with reference to the proposed stock track from Poverty Hay to the Bay of Plenty, via Mangapuhatu, stated that lie would get. into touch with Mr. Coates, and see whether he could get constfuelion work under way. —Received. The Cook County Council wrote, stating that they would support- representations for a new stock route to 'ilVe Bay of Plenty.—Received. The Director-General of the Agricultural Department wrote with reference lo the Union’s suggestion that the importation of maize from South .Africa* should lie prohibited. Weevil came into Mew Zealand in many different articles of commerce, and regulations prohibiting all this produce would bo 'too serious a stop. He hoped that eventually the Dominion would he able to produce sufficient maize for its own vi tpiii'emeiits. —Received. The Poverty Bay Fin it growers’ Association wrote staling that at the annual meeting recently a resolution expressing the appreciation of thiv Association for the assistance rendered by the Union during the year, was passed. —Received. It was decided to forward a- remit to Hie Dominion Conl'eiviice asking that the levy per member be reduced to ss.
