ESSENTIAL FOE DISTINCT. DISCUSSION BY FA RM KliS, The question of lime supplies, which has received consideration by the Farmers’ Union recently, was further discussed this afternoon. Af a previous meeting it was decided to ask the Cook County Council to supply lime from (libit quarry. At to-day’s meeting a letter was received from the Cook Cotmiy Council, which regretted it could not undertake the crushing of lime. Air. .Field said that lie had been in Wellington recently and had got into touch with Air. Aston and he was prepared to come up after the winter and go over the country with them. 'That would be a tremendous help, for fiihy all realised Hint analysis of the soil was necessary. They wanted to get the lime in the district if possible, and they knew that the Public Works Department ’s quarry was the best. They did not want to lose the use- of that quarry if possible, for the percentage of lime was higher than in any other. He believed .that it was possible to get it burnt, in the district—in fact he knew it could be done, lie would move that they write to Hie .Minister of Agriculture asking whether fanners in the district could obtain lime from the quarry as it was essential to have lime for the district. It was decided to forward flic motion to the .Minister.
