Regarding tile improvement in the Christchurch tramway services on certain lines, an endeavour is being made to bring them into effect on August 1 (reports the Christchurch Press). 'Liao : time required for the construction of i the additional rolling stock prevents the improvements being brought into force earlier. “The English practice of matching hoys of Hi with matured and experienced men in Id and 20 round fights endangers English boxing,” said Frank Brown, travelling representative of Stadiums, Ltd., in a recent inter-' view. “Boys should not be exposed to the risk of heavy punishment, and. should not be allowed to box unless at catch-weights,” lie continued. “We find growing boys compelled to make weight, which is only possible by; means of dangerous dieting. The consequence is boxers are old men,, sometimes broken, before they are 20.! England must follow the American! example, and prohibit hoys from taking part in long fights.”
