PAINTERS' DISPUTE.
AGREEMENT REACHED. (Ppr Prpqp ASSOC*"MOD WELLINGTON, this day. . The painters' dispute was further considered by the Concilation Council. Speaking on the claim for double rales for work done with paint-spraying machine:., the employers' representative. Mr. W. C. Prima, aid so far as ascertainable the machines were not in use. having been found unsatisfactory, and therefore the clause was unnecessary. Mr. F. Cornwall (employees' representative) admitted the machines were not successful, but it was incorrect to ?av none were being used, and union members should be protected. The matter was referred to the Arbitration Court, M". W, Oven foil, secretary to the New Zealand Rni'dcrs' Federation, suggested that interested parties who had not been consulted on various matters should have the rmhl to refer flmse to Hie Arbitration Court before the award was ratified.
This w-is agreed to and the Court wm left to decide the term of the award and to settle m" iters gating to the exemption of Borough and CoiiriO Count's: mirh'O'm -vro-e, and sh'n vor'' conditions. With these rxcentions tin aaroement was sianed by the parties and will Ro on to the Court,
