MIDNIGHT DRAMA.
CAR THIEVES CAUGHT. DIVE INTO THAMES. LONDON, April 7. There were many thrilling episodes in a midnight drama in the West End. Throe men jumped into a motor car at the Connaught Club, and furiously drove eastward. The owner of the car. after reporting his loss, was proceeding homeward on top of a motor bus. when ho saw his own car momentarily held up in a traffic jam, and commenced a wild chase, accompanied by a policeman, whistling from a taxi's riipning board.
'Vhvy ennght, the car near the Bank of England, and, two men were arrested. The, third man, hotly pursued, ran down King William street. Reaching the Thames Embankment, he found the police closing in. and, as ihe only alternative, dived into the Thames. '
The police, carrying lorches, an hour later discovered the escapee, clinging exhausted to a projection of London Bridge. The trio to-day were remanded on a charge of stealing the car.
