CLOUDBURST.
EIVE INCHES IN HALE HOUR.; i MELBOURNE, April 6; The Commonwealth Meteorologist, Mr. Hunt, estimates that up to 9 a.m. to-day 3.200,000,000 tons of rain fell over Victoria, principally north of the Dividing Rantre. Mr. Hunt said that nothing could be more opportune or more beneficial to the State. Five inches of rain fell in half an hour at, Swan TTJII to-dav, when a cloud burst swept over sevoral farms.' The storm knocked down fences and inundated 40 acres. Settlers' houses were flooded. The flood is the heaviest for years.
