NEW ACT OPERATIVE ON MAY 6. (Pf»r ' WELLINGTON, this day. Royal assent to the Shipping and Seamen’s Act. increasing the fine on ships entering port, witli the loadlines submerged to a maximum of £IOOO, has been received, and a proclamation issued in the Gazette announces the Act comes into force on May 6.
