SUB SIDY SUCCESSFTJL. LONDON, Jail. 15. Agricultural statistics show that the sugar beet subsidy resulted in 55,000 acres being planted in England and Wales in 1925, compared with 22,400 acres in 1924. The acreage under wheat was 1,449,000 —the. lowest since 1904. The barley acreage increased, and that under oats decreased. Horse-breeding has diminished by 50 per cent, in the last four years. There were 803,000 agricultural workers in Britain in 1925, nr 3125 fewer than in 1924.
