WAIROA NOTES.

There was some comment at tlie show .at .the bare- and inartistic appearance of the produce shed as it appeared, to visitors. A little attention to decoration- by means of flags, greenery, or mottoes, would have made all the difference, and would have set off the exhibits greatly. The- ladies would, Lam assured, lie pleased if this were done. The society lias an -inset in.-its .catalogue -inviting suggestions for next show -and here is one: To.,set up at decorative committee of young people to meet-the night before the show and cover up isome of the unsightly rout, anil rafters as ,Ih.o young peoploi know how to do it. The ground is ideally situated* near enough to town to get the crowd without much expanse, to patrons. The need of some planting is evident to f all, and it is time to make a start, for trees take some time to grow and become useful and ornamental. Tree planting • does not cost- much, the main expense being for-the protecting fences, but the work need not all be done in one financial year. Suitable border, belts and. a few clumps, where private parties could,be.hold in the shade, would be greatly appreciated. At the inquest ,on the body of Rum Kahukura, a native farmer, who hanged himself at tVhakaki last Sunday, the aetingCoroher was. Air. V. E. Winter, J.P., and the jury comprised Messrs. Craig, Taylor, Swash and Howell. Evidence was given by ilincaraj daughter of the deceased, and her mother, Ka* to the effect that there had been, a violent quarrel between deceased and his wife, and some time afterwards the daughter iou.'d her father hanging and gave Hie alarm. Evidence also was given by Mu.uro and Taylor as to the cutting down of the body, and the efforts made at resuscitation. ,A. verdict was returned to the .effect that deceased committed suicide by hanging himself while in a Jit of temper. .The Court will sit on Monday before Mr.. E. C. Lpvvey, G.M., and the in? quest into the North Clyde motor-car fatality will be held at 2.10 p.m. the same day. _____
