SHOOTING.

MAR TON GUN CLUB’S MEET. (Per Press Aesouißtion.) MARTON, this day. The Marlon Gun Club's pigeon handicap was decided to-day. The weather conditions were 'not good, varying from light to ’occasionally puzzling winds. The shoot resulted : J. Blythe (Wanganui) 12 yards; D. McLachlan (Mastevton) 15; and Illston (Mart-on), 10, tied with 20 birds. The shoot off resulted : Illston 13, McLachlan 12, Blythe 9. For the Wellington provincial championship 23 were on the mark. Quartern!an, McLachlan, White, and Illston tied with 19. Quarterman beat McLachlan on the 26th bird in the shoot off, and won the championship. TE KARAKA CENTRE.

Tlio rifle* shooting competition of the cadets of the Te Karaka centre was conducted on the To Karaka range on Saturday. Thirty competitors were entered, and the standard of shooting was good. The special prize presented by Mr. J. Moore for the competitor •gaining the greatest number of “hulls” was won by A. Burgci, with 12 “hulls.” while S. Lowndes. L. Mathesoin. L. Bridge, and D. Moore, each with 10 “bulls” tied for second place. The second competition was won bv No. 3 section (Lance-Corporal H. Cunningham), with nil aggrogatjn of 336 tons, No. 4 section second with 333 points, No. 2 section third with 329, and No. 1 fourth with 316.

The prize winners are as follows: A. Burge 57 points (£1): B. Scott, L. Malheson, >S. Lowndes, L. Bridge, 55 points (7/6); F. Stevenson, IT. Cunningham, E. Moore, J. Pickett-, N.
