During the past year the Maori collection of the Dominion Museum, now housed • and on exhibition on the fifth floor of the Dominion Farmers’ Institute, to which the lift conveys visitors, has benefited by several donations. As a result, of a visit to Maliia Peninsula made by Mr. w. <T. Phillipps, who has charge of the collection, an exquisitely carved Tuavapa, or stempost of a war canoe, was presented to the Museum by Mr. Ormond, and two house carvings of unusual design were presented by Mahia Maoris, in return for a small sum. i .
