PERILOUS EXPERIENCE.
MINISTER’S ROEGH" TRIP. LAUNCH HAS SEVERE BUFFETING fPcr Press Association.! HAMILTON, this day. On Saturday tile, Hon. Mr Bollard had an exciting expni'jcnce, From Tuakan he sel. off for Port Waikato in Walter Divyu’s launch. Heavy raiiii falling. The wind on the river was blowing to a gale, and the fide was flowing in at a terrific speed. Off Waiora the .little craft struck very heavy seas and nearly stood on end', providing mVoluirtary 'baths for tbei passengers. 'Die speed for’ an' hour was little, arid’ the launch was like a perfect, switchback railway. The unenviable experienco’ was heightened when the launch stfubk on a shoal and remained' there for a brief space. Slio was laslmd by the waves romping in from the heads. At length the splendid seamanship of Mr. Diven prevailed. The launch floated 1 off tire shoal and again tackled her journey. Until she raliclmil (lie jel-tv she was heavily buffeted. Tile berthing was accomplished only by deft.handling. Mr. Bollard, speaking of the experience of the party, paid a high tribute to the seamanship of Mr. Diven, who had worked wonders with the launch in heavy weather.
