GREAT RAILWAY MERGER.
THE UNITED STATES LINES. SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 26.—The President, Mr. Calvin Coolidge, believing that the United States railroads should be consolidated by a series of gigantic mergers, will urge Congress to take the necessary steps to that end this winter, the mergers would bo consummated alter about six or seven years.
1 Shortly after this announcement comes the news of the confirmation of the reorganisation plan of the Chicago, Milwaukee, a net St. Paul now in receivership. Holders of £33,000,000 worth of securities have assented to the proposal.
