(Per Press Association.! WELLINGTON, this day. The weather is fine hut. overcast- for to-day's holiday. A large crowd lias gone to Trent ham for (lie races. The only other attraction is the- spoils gathering in Newtown Park.
Labor. Day .waft celebrated iii Gisborne to-day, flags being flown on the Government offices) and tho banks, factories, and - certain business premises being closed. No sports gatherings were held.
