General business dealt- with included tho following:

Road to Cape Runaway,—The question of asking that this road be declared a main highway was discussed, and eventually it;was decided that the president should .get into touch with Ideal bodies, and if considered advisable application will again be made. Urewera. lands.—lt was resolved that the Government be urged to send an expert to -classify the Government lands in the Bay, and to suggest- conditions under which such lands should be sold; a copy of the resolution/ to be sent to the Bay members of Parliament, and their assistance in the matter to lie asked for.

East Coast railway to Opotiki.—The construction of this line being pushed on was urged by several speakers, in? eluding the president and Messrs Sinclair, Armstrong, Green, Hogg, Grant, and others. A resolution moved by Mr Moody, and seconded by Mr Christian, was carried • “That the Government lie urged to push on with the Main East Coast railway from Tnneatua- to Opotiki, and that the section be worked under the contract system or otherwise.” The Tauranga delegates all assured Opotiki of their best help in tho matter. Railway communication between Bay of Plenty and Rotorua. —This matter was very fully discussed. Mr Clinknrd made out a strong case for the project, and moved that the Government be asked to put a sum of monoy on the estimates this year for connecting Rotorua with the Coast. Mr', Clinkard and other speakers emphasised the fact that there will shortly be large quantities of timber coming out from the Rotorua district, which could be sent much more cheaply through the Bay, to Auckland than by rail from Rotorua to Auckland via the Main Trunk. It was finally decided that local bodies be approached with U view to sending a strong deputation to Wellington on this and other matters.
