CRICKET.
VICTORIA v. CANTERBURY. fPer Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The weather is beautifully line for the cricket match. Victoria resumed their second innings with one wicket down for 10, YVoodful 1 (7) and ! Ellis (2) facing the bowling of Blunt and Mcßeth. After one over Blunt was replaced by Cunningham. Woodfull was nearly run out in Cunningham’s second over. Runs came slowly, the batsmen taking no risks, and only 18 were scored in 30' minutes. At noon the score was one wicket for S3 — Woodfull (not out) 37; Ellis, (not- out) 15; extra 1. Despite the bowling changes Woodfuil and Ellis built up the score, giving, a sound rather than brilliant exhibition. Woodfull’s defence was splendid. After one hundred had been posted runs came more freely, though the fielding was smart. At 139 Patrick clean bowled Ellis, and Willis came in. The snores at luncheon time were: Ellis, b Patrick, 52; Woodfull, nob out, 84; Willis, not out, 1; extras, 5 ; two wickets for 142.
