WATERFRONT LABOR.

. POSITION IN WELLINGTON. (P<>r Press Association.; WELLINGTON, last night. The position on the waterfront is unchanged, but important developments are expected to-morrow. It is stated that no further call for labor will be made from the watereiders until the call to work the Waimana has been responded to, so that this continual dis-, crimination and pinpricking should end. The Waverley ancl Hawera, with carcases from Patea in their refrigerating chambers, arrived to deliver their cargoes to the Waimana. However, as no call for labor was made both vessels remained in port until yesterday, when orders were received to take the meat hack to Patea, where it will again be placed in store. THE CRISIS DEVELOPING. , NO CALL FOR LABOR TO-DAY. ASSURANCES ASKED FOR. (Special to the Herald.) / WELLINGTON, this day. Though there is nothing spectacular about the appearance of the Wellington wharves except the presence of over one thousand idle men around the labor call stands, it is evident that a serious crisis has developed. A full labor supply wap available to-day at 8 o’clock, but only a few gangs were employed for the Southern Picton, andi Nelson ferry steamers, which are being kept out of the dispute. Watersiders’ officials informed your correspondent that thev had a telephone message during the morning from the employers’ representative that no labor would be required l until the men undertake to abide by the terms of the Arbitration Court award. The union monthly stop-work meeting will be held on Tuesday morning. Wool continues to arrive in the wharf stores, which are busy, though the bulk .•(if tile season’s clip is despatched. Fairly large quantities of dairy produce have also been handled, ample cool store space being available. Unless, the employers obtain the required assurance, the conditions are pointing to a long, bitter- industrial struggle on the waterfront. SYDNEY DEVELOPMENT. PEACE ON THE WATERFRONT. (Elec. Tol. Copyright— United Press Assn.’ (Received March 2. 11 a.m.) SYDNEY. March 2. Most of the executive officers of the Returned Soldiers’. Watersiders’ Union, with a majorty of members, joined the Watorsiders’ Federation during the weekend.
