The weather was fine and the wicket, good. Australia, went to the wickets and had lost- one wicket for 32—Collins 1, Ryder (not- out) 16, Gregory (not out) 14. Later. —Australia, has lost three wickets for 77 runs—Ryder 29, Gregory 29. Andrews (not out), 17.
VICTORIA v. CANTERBURY. POOP, START FOR. DOMINION PLAYERS. (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The weather is fine and the pitcli perfect for the cricket- match Victoria v. Canterbury. Canterbury won the toss, and batted. Blunt and Gregory opening. Blunt was bowled by Wallace for a duck in the first over —1 for 0. Crawford joined Gregory. The second wicket fell at 42, Gregory being caught by Ellis off Hartkopf. At one o’clock Canterbury had lost three wickets for 61 —Blunt, b Wallace, 0; Gregory, o Eilis, b Hartkopf, 28;. Talbot, o Liddicutt, b Millar, 2. At the luncheon adjournment Canterbury had lost three wickets for 86— Crawford (not out) 34: Cox (not out) 16: extras 6. Gregory ran into double figures, quickly sending Liddicutt to the fence several times. He survived an appeal for leg-before; so did Crawford. At 27 Millar bowled instead of Wallace. At 42 Hartkopf repelaced Liddicutt. and be got Gregory’s wicket through a catch by Ellis. Talbot only made two before being caught by Liddicutt. Cox and Crawforu made a good stand, carrying the score to 86 at luncheon.
