THE REFORM PARTY.
NO SUPPORT FOR EXTREMISTS. PLEDGES REQUIRED. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Discussing the policy of the Reform Party at the next election the Hon. A. D. McLeod states that the party has nothing to hide in any matter. Every legitimate effort was being made to maintain a stable Government party. He believed this could best be attained by preventing tho extreme Lai or party reaching tlie Treasury benches, and as the result of this, no Reform support would go to any candidate who not. only did not publicly pledge himself to vote against extreme Labor on no-confidence motions, but also give a public pledge to disassociate himself from any party prepared to accept extreme Labor assistance within the House for {he purpose of forming a Government. Liberals (either as party or as individual candidates) were apparently not able or willing to give these pledges to the electors. The Reform party was, and as a result it probably would be found necessary to run candidates prepared to give tho above pledges, in every electorate.
