BELL TONGUE BREAKS LOOSE

CHRISTCHURCH, November 4

When the Cathedral bell-ringers were finishing practice last evening there was a break in the rhythm of the chimes, and then a dull thud as a tongue, 601 b in weight,' fell from its pivot, swung over the framework, and crashed through the floor beneath. Practice was suspended and investigation showed that the castiron tongue of number 6 bell had broken from its bush. It. was subsequently decided that the rebushing of six out ol nine of the remaining bells was advisable.
