ROBBING THF. DEAD
(Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day
Extreme Labor doctrines, some of which were enunciated, in the House yesterday, gave Mr. W. D. Lysnar (Gisborne) material for a strongly-worded indictment of Laborites, who followed bis remarks with, so much comment that Mr. (Speaker announced that further interruption of the l heckling order would lead to complete suspension of the- interjectors. Mr. Lysnar, referring to a plea by Mr. Parry (Auckland Central) that that portion of the city cemetery be appropriated for a-playground for a neighboring school, declared that those extreme Labor people would rob anyone. Mr. Holland raised a point of order that, no member was entitled to say another member would rob.
Mr. Speaker asked Mr. Lysnar to indicate the exact nature of his statement. Mr. Lysnar answered that lie could not be drawn from the statement made by Mr. Parry that be would take this land.
Mr. Holland: they would rob the people. Mr) Lysnar: If you choose to put it they would be robhad. Mr. Speaker ruled' that there was no personal reflection, and Mr. Lysnar continued to the accompaniment of laughter from the Labor benches. He criticised in serious tones the mental attitude of a member who would urge the taking for a. playground a. graveyard which bad been bought, by relatives of the dead. (Labor ’laughter.) “It show's, y he added, “to what an extent they would go, desecrating graves to carry out Bolshevik ideas—a nice sort of teaching foi> children. If the Auckland- people are proud of that sort of thing .1 am, sorry for them.”
