AVRO DAMAGED
MISHAP TO RELIEF MACHINE.

This /morning Lieut. F. C. Ewen, of Hamilton, Hying over Christchurch suburbs, made a forced 1 landing in an Avro. A wing of. the machine touched a wire fence and the machine crashed. The propeller was broken, the undercarriage smashed, and a wing broken. The aviator was not hurt. A relief machine landed a mechanic, and when starting to return to the aerodrome made another landihg in an adjoining paddock, struck a gorse fence, 1 and had’ to land quickly. The strain imposed broke the shock absorber. Otherwise no damage was done.
