An enlhusinstie mooting of Scot:; hold in fhg Cosmopolitan Club last evening decided 1 to re-form tln? Gisborne Scottish Society. There was w good attendance, over which Mr. It. McDulV Rirrell was elected to preside. The Chairman explained that the mooring was called following upon a promise given at last year’s Burns’ anniversary gathering. This function for some years past had not been all that it might have been, and some organisation was necessary to arrange this and other matters of Scottish interest. It had been suggested that the Caledonian Society should lie resuscitated, and although lie considered this a. wise move, lie could not help saying that in the past its success' had been marred by the lack of co-opera-tion among members. There was a deplorable lack of sentiment among Scottish people in' (lishorne. and this was a final effort to reorganise the society. I ft' particularly desired to see more interest taken by the younger generation, and in this connection much help could be obtained by the formation of a juvenile, pipe band. Mr. T. Corson expressed the opinion that the meeting indicated a desire for the revival of the society, and slated that the tithe appeared opportune for such a movement.
Mr. ,J. McLeod also favored steps being taken to maintain interest among the Scottish fraternity; and suggested that a number of concerts should be held during the year. lie moved that a Gisborne Scottish Society should he formed. The motion was carried unanimously, and officers were elected as follows:
