SOMETHING FOR NOTHING.
ENTERPRISING FIGHT FANS. CHRISTCHURCH. .Tune 6.—The principle of getting something for nothing appears to be a very human weakness, and apparently local fight fans are possessed of a very fair share of the weakness, for at the Ahirray-Volairo fight- on the night of June 3 a number of people gained admittance on old tickets, and one on a trotting club's ticket used earlier in the day. The matter was discussed at a meeting of the committee of the Christchurch Sports Club, when the secretary showed eight- complimentary tickets with the dates altered. In most cases, lie said, the alterations had been well enough done to pass the scrutiny of the doorkeeper, but three of the offenders had been caught. He hoped that something would be done in the matter. The Chairman Dr. (W. H. Simpson) said that action should be taken to prevent a recurrence of the incident. Air. J. At. Coffey remarked that the tickets used had been issued for the lights in May, and they had not been used until the June bout. It was decided that- the persons who had been caught should he asked to appear before a special meeting of the committee and make explanations.
