Tho people of Tagiacozza meted out terrible, revenge io a man found guilty Of sacrilege. He. entered a. church at night, and stripped a statue of tho Madonna of jewels. He was arrested. Tho infuriated populace attacked the prison, seized the. man, hanged him to a. lamp post, then soaked him with petrol and burned him alive.
