JAPANESE POLITICS.
GENERAL ELECTION EXPECTED.
FATE OF THE CABINET,
(Sydney Sun Cables.) TOKIO, Dec. SO.
{Statements by the Ministers for Education and Justice explain that the attempted assassination was so grave an affair that Cabinet must resign in order to prevent people overlooking the seriousness of the situation, ami in order to prevent political capital being made out of the affair. Press comments practically agree that Yaiiunnoto has tfakon the only possible step. Ynmamoto is in a serious condition of health. The papers hint; ho is not likely t-o survive this second enforced retirement from tho Premiership. The last Ministry was driven out as the result of tho naval scandal in which extensivo graft was proved. The second Ministry saw the earthquake disaster period ended by an attempt on the ruler's life. The situation is politically complicated as the result of Hie hostility of tho majority of the Diet against a nopuny Cabinet, while the majority itpclf t contained no acceptable Premiership material. The fight towards constitutional government, ' wherein Cabinet represents the elected' majority, seems certain to continue, whoever iw called on to form a Government, while the urgent needs of reconstruction miist be delayed. It is probable the new Cabinet will call an immediate general election, A FATHER'S ANGUISH. S \ID TO HAVE COMMITTED SUICIDE. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Associar.'on.) TOKIO, Dec. 31.
