POCKET TESTAMENT LEAGUE
VISIT OF WORLD’S SECRETARY. The Rev. G. T. B. Davis, world’s secretary of the; Pocket Testament League, arrived from south by the AraImra this morning on a brief visit to Gisborne. The Rev. Mr. Davis, who is on a world’s tour in the interests of the Pocket Testament League and personal is accompanied by his mother, Mra E. A. R. Davis and Miss Beebe," who are at; present at Auckland. Ten years ago the Rev. Mr. Davis toured New Zealand with the famous Cliap-man-Alexander mission. There has been a great response throughout the Dominion, he stifles, and it has been marvellous to see the eager way in which the boys and girlg of New" Zealand have come forward. The distribution lias been largely conducted through tho medium of the sehols, hut in some of the centres, notably l Auckland, special l'allies have been held and the Jncturc theatres were packed for tho occasion. Tn this connection tho use of Everybody’s Theatre has been kindly placed at Mr. Davis’ disposal for next Tuesday afternoon’s rally. Seven thousand Testaments were distributed at Wellington and 10,000 at Auckland, and it is anticijttted that 5R.C00 will be distributed throughout New Zealand as a result of the visit. Mr. Davis, who has received a pressing invitation to take up work in China, will occupy several nulpitfj on Sunday. The childrens rallies will commence on Monday at Manga pa pa and Kaiti and on Tuesday afternoon at Everybody's Theatre. Further announcements will be ■ made through our advertising columns.
