Hearing that a Maori was acting threateningly at Wakatiwai two constables went there. They found the jilace deserted except for Kani Te Puki, who had bee chopping down fences with an axe, also threatening a relative that he would kill him. He was arrested, whereupon the Maoris came out of the bush, rather resenting the arrest. Puki was handcuffed, adjudged insane, and committed to Avondale.
