HAWERA, last night. The Egmont llucing Club's winter meeting opened in misty, damp weather. Tho course was heavy and later heavy rain fell. There was a fair attendance. Tho totalisator put through £18,853,- against £24,638 on the corresponding day last year. Later results:—
Tonks Memorial Handicap: Sir Burnett 1, Big Push 2, Amber Tips .3. Also ran: Birkic, Sunny Jim, Helen Rufus, Roman, and Pouma. Won easily by three lengths, half a length between second and third. Time, 1.21 3-5.
Mcßac Memorial Handicap: Rouen 1, Correspondent 2,- Tamo Fox 3. Also ran: Kareao, Askari, Bitholic, Iceberg, Lochson, and Eerie. Won comfortably by a length and a-half, four lengths between second and third. Time, 2.23 2-5. Tawhite Hack: Red Helen 1, Marblo Glass 2, Tho Curragh 3. Also started: Silver San, Skylight, Daddy's Girl, Left, Haligan (coupled with Red Helen), Nukumai, Knighthood, Katapawa, /Flying Planet, Second Choice, a lid Dignity. Won by half a head, four lengths between second and third. Timo, 2.4 3-5.
