The susuension. of the Alliance Bank of Delhi caused consternation. Thousands of Europeans, individuals and' firms, aro affected. The bank's position was regarded as somewhat shaky for some time. Europeans anticipated! Government backing to prevent it closing. It is believed that within a few days itwill be possible to pay investors fifty per cent, of the deposits, but no oflicuil announcement on this point has been made.
