HEAVY FIRING DISTRACTS AT TENTiON OF MILITARY.

Thirteen irregulars-escaped from Sligo gaol by tiling the bars of a small window and descending by ladders made from strips of blankets, and climbing the outer wall by means of a plank. Then they encountered a body of irregulars, and heavy firing then began throughout tli,e town, with the obvious intention of distracting the attention of the military. The prisoners escaped.
