Australia lost six wickets for 227 (Bardsley 25, Collins 41, Macartney 47, Andrews 30, Taylor 19, Ryder not out 44, Oldfield not out 9.) Play was stopped by rain four times, and the ground was treacherous. (Macartney played the innings of the day, delighting the spectators with his sparkling, crisp shots, scoring at a fast rate. Collins was always at home to the howling, and played a very confident, unhurried innings, but. Bardsley was disappointing. Ryder, Rvho is apparently well set looks like making a big score. . .
