A ecu lie! to" the recent Auckland tramway - accident""in" Symonds street, in which a car left the rails', jumped the water channel and came to a standstill on the footpath, vas the an explanation of the cause of the accident at the meeting of the Mount Eden- Borough Council. The communication was from the ,city tramways department, and was to the effect that the accident' was duo to the breaking of a gear wheel, a rare aud unforeseen occurrence.
