The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report having held their weekly live stock sale at the Matawhero yards on Wednesday, 23rd inst., when a good yarding of sheep and a fair number of cattle were offered to a good attendance. Several lots of good • owes were penned, and for these thero was good enquiry, and mostly changed hands as fair prices, but tor all other classes the market was decidedly easier. Few fat cattle came forward, and these ijold readily at full value; store cattle were poorly competed for, and only very few sold. Our yarding included 4095 sheep, of which number 2698 sold ; 126 head of cattle, 26 sold ;11 pigs, all sold. The following prices were realised during the day Fat ewes 16s 3d lo 19s, fat 2-loolh owes and wethers 19s 6d to 21s, fat lambs (light) 17s 9d to 18s 2d, 4-tooth owes 20s, 6-tooth ewes 20s 3d, 4 and 5-year-old ewes 17s Id to 20s, 5-ycar ewes 15s 9d to 19s, low conditioned ewes 9s, broken mouth ewes 4s 9d, cull 4-loolh owes 14s lid, cull 2-tooth ewes Us 3d to 13s 9d, forward lambs 14s 9d, store lumps 12s 6d to 12s 9d, cull lambs 3s 9d to 7s, lat cows £ll 2s 6d, store steers £9 12s 6d. store cows £4 to £6. Pigs, baooners £3 to £4.
