Orr was granted leave of absence. , Two residents of Upper Pox Street requested the Council to consider the re-, moval of a row of gum trees m froiit of their residences, which, it wris etattvd, exeludcd the SIM and made the roads and paddocks damp and unhealthy. V The Chief Medical Officer of .the Health Department wrote regarding ' the new Health Bill, iv the terms published prior to the Health Conference recently held. — Received. The Queensland Insurance Company (Napier branch) wrote enclosing a schedulo of tariff m respect of public risk insurance.—Decided to reply stating that the matter had already been attended to. TBe. Minister of Education, replying to a letter stating that m the opinion it was not m the province of local bodies to provide funds for technical instruction, forwarded a copy of a statement made by him to the- press m regard to this matter. — Received. A telegram from Mr W. D. Lysnar, M.P., dated September 3, asserted the sender's willingness to represent the Council on the deputation to the Prime Minister re fairer allocation of public expenditure, on the 6th inst.— lt was decided to write thanking Mr Lysnar' fbr his assistance. An Ormond resident called attention lo the stray stock nuisance m his locality—The chairman said he would give instructions to have the matter attended to. Mr W. P. Hattcn applied for permission to erect a gate across Joyce Street at Kaitaratahi, as a measure of protection for his fences, he being tho sole owned of land at tbe end of this road.— Permission was granted, subject to the usual conditions. The Uawa County Council wrote suggesting that a conference be arranged with reference to the Cook County Council's application to the Minister for Internal Affairs for ai* Order-in-Council, authorising the making of by-laws with respect to licensing vehicles using county 1 ' roads. — Decided to hold tho conference on the Monday afternoon m show week. The, Waikohu County Council wrote intimating that the overseer with the member^for the To Karaka riding were going to inspect the Ngatapa stock truck.— lter ceived.
