PROPOSED RAILWAY DEVIATION

Considerable interest is being taken m the public meeting which, is being* held this afternoon at the Borough Council Chambers m response to a requisition to the Mayor, Mr G. Wildish, respecting the suggested deviation of the railway, via Waikohu or via Waikokopu. A number of country settlers have come into town for tho purpose of attending the meeting and a full discussion on the subject is expected. It is understood that the chairman of the league, Mr W. G. Sherratt, has withheld the forwarding of Saturday's resolution to the Government m the meantime.
