GISBORNE RACING CLUB.

There was a good attendance of members at the annual general . meeting of the Gisborne Racing Club this afternoon. Sir Jas. Carroll, patron of the club, presided, and before proceeding to the business paid a tribute of respect to the late Hon., W. D. S. Mac Donald, M.P., a tribute fully endorsed by the meeting. The report and balance-sheet were read and adopted. " • , Tho office of pa.tron was . again conferred upon Sir Jas; Carroll, Mr H.. ' deLautour pointing out that the office Was originally inaugurated" for the especial convenience of Sir James, m order that the club would always have the benefit of his participation m the business. Oman. Messrs W. Petherbridge, H. Jones, J. HY Hall and N. Norgrove. were elected new members of the club.^Mr D. J. White brought up the : matter of the granting free tickets for admission to returned soldiers to the race meetings, for a further term, He said this concession had helped the Associa- , tion m its membership considerably. He offered a personal guarantee that there ! would be no abuse In the matter of dis- ; tribution of tickets, and the club's action [ would be greatly appreciated.— -Mr Barry j asked Mr White if he could fix a number lie would suggest should be granted. — Mr White said there were some 600 financial members on the books of the Association, but only a third of them would be racegoers.
