Wellington and Otago played a Ranfurly Shield match m beautiful, weather and m the presence of fully 12,000 spectators. Wellington won by 16 points to 5, but as their score included two potted goals by Roberts and a somewhat lucky i try from a rebound off the Otago crossbar, there was not the margin of differ- . enco between the teams which the score suggesjts. WELLINGTON, last night. Iv the match Manawatu and Wellington, neither team was up to its full 1 strength. Wellington won by 24 to 6, but ■ the score was not a fair indication of the relative merit* of the teams. I CHRISTCHURCH, last night. ! Wanganui played Canterbury m the presence of 5000 people, and after a very poor exhibition of football Canterbury won by 19 to 11. On the day's play the visitors deserved to win.
