VICEROY OF INDIA.
MR. CnURCHILL NAMED FOR HIGH OFFICE. (Received Sept. 11. 2.30 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 10. It is persistently rumored that Mr. Churchill may accept the* Vice-royalty of India, though previously it was unacceptable to him. It is considered that a statesman of Mr. Churchill's calibre will -be welcome, so as to resist encroachment by the pushful Secretary of State and to deal with the disorderly elements in India.— A. and N.Z.C..A: «■
