THE 'DERRY RIOTS.
MANY STREET BATTLES.
FIVE MEN KILLED AND 100 INJURED.

In connection with the outbreak of rioting, looting, and incendiarism which began iv Londonderry on Friday night, it appears that a party of Unionists, armed^ with rifles and revolvers, assembled m the waterside district. Neighboring Catholic residents, fearing an attack, Bent girl messengers across the river to summon help from the Sinn Feiners and Nationalists. Their arrival resulted m many street battles, residents crawling out ot the danger zone along, Toofs. The troops dispersed the rioters, but sniping continued for three hours. Hundreds or soldiers and 1 the police ( patrolled the district on Saturday night, but more serious rioting broke out m the new quarter. Many people were held up and attacked m the street. Two fatalities occurred at the same door within five minutes. An'lrish- : American who served m the British Army was fatally shot "■ down m the street. Two Sinn Feiners shot workmen; entering a factory. A constable was held up an«i badly beaten by drunken men, who placed his body on a donkey cart, and drove to the hospital. Both sections of, rioters indulged m looting. Five were killed and ono hundred injured, ten seriously. ( - The fire brigade was called out on Sunday afternoon. Sinn Feiners chased tlie firemen from the, fire and drove the engine to the Sinn Fein quarter.
