COLLISION OF CARS.
BOTH VEHICLES WRECKED. SETTLER KILLED AND ONE NOT LLKELY TO SURVIVE. (Per Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., last night. A motor fatality occurred one mile on the Wanganui side of Sandon at 6.30 to-night, when a car driven by Warren Newth, a taxi driver, coming from the Wanganui races, crashed into a car driven by A. Eglington, a Sandon settler, going from Palmerston on the open road. Both vehicles were overturned and wrecked. Eglington sustained terrible injuries to his head and died shortly afterwards. E. A. Penny, a farmer, sitting m the front sea, had his skull fractured and both legs broken, and is not expected to survive the night. Mr. and Mrs. Accort, m the back seat, escaped with a few bruises. Warren Newth was rendered - unconscious, but not seriously injured. Basil Faircloth was practically -unhurt. N. Powell has severe facial injuries. J. S. McConkey has sy EizUMqpsibfJ J. S.
