The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report having 'held their weekly live stock sale at the Matawhero yards on Wednesday, 6th inst, when they had a good allround entry to offer tp^ a. large attendance. Fat slieep came forward m, fair numbers, and were well competed for. Good hoggets and wethers were also m keen demand and prices were well maintained. Practically all lots offered, changed hands under the; hammer. Few fat cattle were offered and high prices ruled ; good sorts of store cattle sold readily at advanced rates. W 6 offered {he following : 2890 sheep, of which number 2757 sold ; 182 head of cattle, 119 being sold ; and 35 pigs, 27 being sold. The following prices ruled during the day : Fat. eVves, heavy, 34s 3d to 35s 9d; fat ewes, 29s to 30s; forward' ewes, 21s 9d to 275; 2-toOth ewes, small, 275.; cull ewes, 9s to 15s; extra good woolly hoggets, 27s 3d to 30s 7d; medium woolly hoggets, 23s lOd to 24s 3d ; good shorn hoggets, 27«j Id ; medium hoggets, 18s 3d to 20s; cull.hocrgets, 12s to 14s 8d; 2-tooth wethers,. 29s 6d to 30s Id; 4-tooth wethers, 32s 9d to 335. Cattle : Heavy bullocks, £17 to £20; lighter, £14 10s- light cows, £9; good yearling steers. £6 12s 6d; 20-months steers, £7 12s 6d ; mixed weaners^ £Jy calves, £2 to £3 ; forward cows, £7"* 10s • dairy cows, springers, £8 10s to £14 10s.
