DIFFERENTIATION IN REGARD
TO BIRDWOOD
(Australian and N.Z. Cable Association). LONDON, August 6. Mr Adamson's amendment m tho House of- Commons to reduce the vote for grants to commanders) on the ground that the rewards should be' m proportion to the rank filled, was rejested by 288 votes to 66.
In the House of Commons, Mr. T. H. Inskip, Unionist Member for Bristol, protested that General Sir William Bird wood had not received a sum equal to the other army commanders. Thidifferentiation, he said, caused dismay m the hearts of the Australians, who regarded him with a devotion unique m the annals of the' army. j
