SYRIA AND PALESTINE.
MONEY FOR RELIEF. LONDON, June 20. The Press Bureau has issued, the following : — Tho Syria and "Palestine Relief Fund needs £100,000 more for 1918. The fund is playing a great part m the reconstruction of Syria and Palestine by British, administration, which already has achieved remarkable results m remedying the conditions due to the ruthlessness of the Turks, namely, the terrible starvation and disease, especially at Lebanon, where there have been over 150,000 deaths. The work of the fund consists of : — Fii'st, the distribution of food and clothing to thousands of refugees, and those unable to earn a livelihood ; secondly, medical l'elief ; thirdly, the care of children, including numberless orphans ; and, fourthly, providing employment.
