FARMERS' MATTERS.
The Waimata branch of the Farmers' Union met on Thursday night, when Mr A. Watson presided over a good attendance of members. The question of seedy wool was discussed, and those present expressed the opinion that the Union organisation had to some extent been instrumental m securing prices m excess of thoss ruling the previous, year. The question of production arm manpower was !also discussed, arid it 'Was pointed out thai man}' men had several farms under their care for mates 'serving at .the front, and they themselves if called up would go" ratner than appeal,. as many had fine family records and did not desire to prove thamselves any: exceptions to the rule. In these instances a clear statement of the position o£ »the men might be made by the Farmers' Union to the Appeal Board, on behalf of reservists who Avere material to the, successful continuance of the agricultural and pastoral productions m this district.
