Nelson and Robertson, Auckland, last week received news of the successful launching of the Faith — a.con--1 crete 5000 tons ship, built on the Pacific coast. The launching was watched with considerable interest, marking an important step m the study of 'concrete -ship construction., The Faith, launched broadside from a •meadow that ran to the water's edge, rolled*' 'until the water was within- a foot of liar, -lop, and then, after a breathless moment,; slowly righted herself* Empty, the heavy concrete vessel, which is 30rt. d«ep, drew nine feet water. ' Loaded to capacity of 5000 tons of cargo, the Faith will draw 24ft. of water. Her designers believe the Faith is co heavy that no ballast' will be necessary; there is no provision for carrying ballast m her structure. No concrete vessel approaching tin*.
