THE AMENDED PROCEDURE.
Revised instructions have been received by Lieutenant-Colonel Moir, local Group Commander, with respect to the , procedure for the Second Division, both in the matter of voluntary enlistment and action under ballot. Attestation and medical examination : It has been decided that, irrespective of whether recruits- voluntarily enlist, or are called up for service, or are drawn in the ballot, they must nofv be attested by a district attesting officer, and medically examined by a distriot Medi- | cal Board. This applies to 19-year-old ' and 20-year-old recruits, as well as to volunteer's from Classes A and B of the Second Division. This cancels all previous instructions whereby recruits were attested by any authorised attesting officer and were medically examined by any authorised medical practitioner. Voluntary, enlistment : This is confined ; to the following : Nineteen and 20-year- fi old youths, Classes A and B of thej Second Division. j Twelve weeks' leave without pay : Men of Classes A and B of the Second Division may be accepted as voluntary ; recruits with the privilege of enlisting for the purpose of proceeding to camp . in accordance with the time-table given below. The policy of the department is that Second Division reservists (volun- . teers and balloted men) are to have at least 12 clear weeks in which to arrange' tjheir private affairfc • between the date of medical examination and the date of concentration for the f purpose of proceeding to camp. , Volunteers attested and medically ex- ' amined (or balloted men medically ex- t amined) between the following dates ' will be ordered to concentrate with tho •"■'•afts arriving in camp as under : — ■ Medical Examination. Arrive Camp. Oct. 18 to Dec. 12 March' 5 to 9. ' Dec. 10 to Jan. 5 April 2 to 6. Jan. 7 to Feb. 2 April 30 to May 4. Feb. 4 to March 2 May 28 to June 1 March 3 to 30 June 25 to 29 April 1 to 27 July 23 to 27. April 29 to Mav 25 Aug. 20 to 24 Miay 27 to June 22 -Sept. 17 to 21 June 24 to Julv 20 Oct. 15 to 19. Julv 22 to Aug. 17 12 .to 16. Aug 19 to Sept. 14 Dec. 10 to 14 Certificate-* of enrolment : Every recruit, should, on attestation, surrender his certificate of enrolment to the disrict attesting' officer. Voluntary recruits must surrender their certificates before attestation, except in . the case of 19---year-old men, who are governed by other instructions. Medical examination : In every case attestation must precede medical examination. Recruits must bring with them any medical certificates they desire to present to a Medical Board. Failure to*' produce these certificates before examina-/ tion will be regarded as a ground for re--fusing re-examination. Previous orders as to re-examination of a recruit whose original examination- took place more than three months prior to the date of concentration are cancelled.
