STATE COAL MINES.

LABOR' FEDEiRATION'S VIEW

(Special to the Herald.)

OHRISTaHUROH, this day. Mr Hiram: Hunter, national secretary of tlie United Federation of Labor, has sent the f6llbwing telegram to the Hon. W. D. S. Mac Donald, Minister of Mines : "The United Federation of Labor trusts the Government will not entertain any proposal to , sell tho State coal mines. We deprecate strongly the attempt of private enterprises to gain their ends by seeking to' exploit an abnormal situation. The people have reaped enormous benefit by Statfe enterprise, and a cessation of State activities m the direction of protecting people from exploitation by trusts and ..combines would be an outrageous crime .and a deplorable exhibition of reaction which is totally unwarranted."
