BUCHAREST LOST 1000 LIVES TN AIR RAIDS.

MURDEROUS ATTACKS,

LONDON, March 22

Move than 1000 persons were killed m Buaharest by tho attacks of German aircraft prior to the abandonment of the city by tho Rumanians, according to 011 account of this raid given out at Jassy, the present capital. In a single day 300 persons were killed by the Zeppelins and airplanes. On this occasion, ithe report states, a group of airplanes descended to a low altitude, and spent several hours m. seeking victims, killing workmen, and workwomen m the fields and streets.

Two aeroplanes which wero pursuing a two-horse vehicle on the road had a race .to see which could reach it first. The vehicle was goin^ at a good pace, but the airplanes quickly overtook it, killing the coachman, then the passenger, and then,' the horses. Tlie account also describes an airplane attack on the royal residence, where ithe young Prince Mircea lay dying of typhoid fever. The avriators "evidently believed the Queen and Princesses were «till there. This attack, the report says, was the subject of a special telegram from the Pope to the Queen, m which the action of the Germans was condemned.
