LAST NIGHT'S TELEGRAMS.

. ■ (Per Press Association.) i l .. . HASTINGS, last night. Following are the insurances on the Hato-ke's Bay Ckjol Storage Company's vrprks, destroyed by fire on Saturday morning last. The buildings were valued at £10,000. The insurances are £1500 in the Phoenix office and £5000 in the United. Twenty-two thousand cases of fruit' were valueoY at £7000. The insurance is £2800 in the United. . The machinery was valued at £3000. The insurance is £2250 in the United. Furniture and stationery were valued at £300. The 'insurance is £200 in the United. The total value is £20.300., and tho total insurances £11,750. The fire represents a total loss, with the exception of 5000 cases of fruit. „ ' WANGANUI, last night. By the will of the late Mr R. G. Brucp, one-time member for Rangitikei, the. Dominion, benefits by valuable beques,t*. After providing foi- a number of , v personal legacies', Mr Bruco makes the following bequests : £2000 to Wanganui hospital; £500 to Wanganui miiseum; £500 to lona Girls' Ctollege ; £2QO ! to the missions in India of the^ Fr.esbyterdan Church in New Zealand ; £50Q to the Porirua Mental Hospital ; and £500 to the Hunterville Domain. Th'e' whole of the residuary estate is to

be applied to affoi'esta.tion or the npking of domains' or national parks in New Zealand. Hie trustees are Sir Thomas Mackenzie, Mr A. G. Simpson, of Hunterville, and Mr F. F. Hbckley, of Te Awanratu. DUNEDIN, last night. At a largely-attended public meeting to-night a motion was carried almost unanimously urging the Government to introduce legislation providing for closing hotels at 6 p.m., as the most effective means of securing national efficiency. The Mayor and 'Hon. «T. MacGregorl wore appointed as a deputation to bring the resolution before the Acting-Prime Minister.
